i'm tired of these damn wtbs

there is no. such. thing. as an urgent wtb. you don't URGENTLY NEED frilly clothing. Its a luxury, a hobby, not a necessity.

I know theres nothing anyone can go about these posts on the sales comm, but sheesh
10th-Apr-2012 08:25 pm (UTC)
I just keep imagining girls showing up to meets and parties with like, no shoes on, shivering in the rain, mascara running down their faces because they didn't find the shoes or parasol they needed in time.
11th-Apr-2012 07:28 pm (UTC)
I may never un-see this :)

Since I already posted an urgent WTB, I know how it is. It's not that we want something that is necessary for our life, it's just that sometimes, there's an event (TP, conventions, party, etc.) and we need a certain item to achieve a specific coordinate that we want to wear for this specific event. That's what "urgent WTBs" mean. Of course, we all realize that Lolita is not vital ;-).
10th-Apr-2012 08:40 pm (UTC)
wtb=WANT to buy, right?

as in, 'i really, REALLY want this for an event coming up/and i can't find it anywhere/because i just really want it', not 'I WILL DIE WITHOUT THIS OMG GIVE IT TO ME.'

at least, that's how i always see it. :/
10th-Apr-2012 08:54 pm (UTC)
i know its a hyperbole

but when i see of urgent wtbs, i think of its opposite...urgent ds. So with that in perspective, I think of saying your URGENTLY need something, as opposed to simply say "wtb", probably won't get ones attention anymore than a regular wtb
10th-Apr-2012 08:50 pm (UTC)
IDK, I interpret that as 'I need this for a particular event'. I'll admit it does bug me as well (It's not urgent - you just want it badly & if the event is that big a deal you should have planned things earlier) but only in that 'roll your eyes & scroll on past' niggle sort of way.

Speaking of sales comm-related dramu though:

Why sure I'd love to join your totally new sales comm with no feedback system & 1 admin using a sock account.

XD I share your opinion on this new sales comm !
I didn't even take the time to reply to this entry when it was posted, because I knew other people would disagree with it.

looks like they deleted....

either way, don't see the need for a 2nd comm, the one on facebook technically is one annnnd if you're going to call it quits already, then it was shady to begin with.

Seriously. The current sales comm has all the rules and moderation because of problems we have had in the past. I'm guessing some of the members are too new to remember talia_speaks.

If people are upset with inconsistent mod-ing they should document the issues and show the mod team why they are peeved. How many times have we tried a new sales system? They all fail because people are used to it the way it is. I still really wish we had a comm where you could post things cyclically by brand (like MBok or something). Anyone who has tried this has attempted to make money off of it by padding multiple small fees.

I just figure it's to let sellers know they need the item asap, so that a seller who's out of town for example, won't offer something they can't ship for a week+.
10th-Apr-2012 09:06 pm (UTC)
I share your opinion OP! I can understand it if its the last piece of a coordination that you need, than it might be 'urgent'. Yet the same kind of 'urgent wtb' is also used by girls of the type: 'Plz I really NEED my dreamdress/print!!!!11' Or else what? Its the only piece of clothing that can protect them against the elements?
10th-Apr-2012 10:14 pm (UTC)
THOSE types of urgent wtb reaally annoy me.
10th-Apr-2012 10:03 pm (UTC)
Uhhhh... I don't think that's what urgent WTB means. I just posted an urgent WTB because I need the items by April 25 at the latest, as the outfit I was planning on wearing fell through and I'm returning it. :( It's not like by urgent WTB someone means "OH GOD IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT I GET THIS ITEM BECAUSE I WANT IT SO HARD OTHERWISE I'LL DIE *insert dramatic swoon here*!" It means "I need this item in a short amount of time, help!"

People who can't get their shit organised is such a huge pet peeve for me. :/

Con season is particularly bad for this ... you know the convention dates are announced months ahead of time, right? So many girls treat it like their debutante ball, but seem to forget debutante balls require a lot of organising and planning to get right ...
11th-Apr-2012 07:11 pm (UTC)
Cons as debutante balls....the mental image of this just made me cough up tea.
23rd-Apr-2012 01:54 am (UTC)
i think of this:

23rd-Apr-2012 02:59 am (UTC)

Why do I feel this is a little too accurate? XD
11th-Apr-2012 02:24 am (UTC)
I have to agree. Even though I understand that some people mean "need to ship soon" I don't understand why they don't say that instead of URGENT WANT IT NOW. That makes me less likely to click and I get the mental image of a spoiled brat stomping her/his feet :(
11th-Apr-2012 02:48 am (UTC)
LOL that's not too far from the truth IMO ... there have been numerous 'emergency wtb' posts where the poster balks at paying upped shipping prices for quicker delivery (as if they thought expediated same-day shipping would still somehow cost the same regular airmail within their own country) and get very wheedling when they finally realise they messed up.

lawd i wish there was a competency test people had to pass before being allowed to conduct business on forums like comm_sales XD
11th-Apr-2012 04:59 am (UTC)
I wish there was a competency test for internet use period. How many people have we had post to egl who didn't read/understand the rules?
11th-Apr-2012 10:30 am (UTC)
What's the big deal? Just because they put urgent in the title or post or what? It's not like they're coming to your house with torches and pitch forks and ripping the lolita from your body.

But urgent happens. Before yesterday I for instance needed something urgently because the group of people I'm going to a con with suddenly decided we're going both days of it rather than only one after all. Ok, so I borrowed something from a friend, but urgent happens, even if it's not life or death. This is really a too tiny issue to get worked up over, chill.
11th-Apr-2012 09:38 pm (UTC)
For me, it's the context of the little backstory most sellers include:

"DS! Need the money quick for emergency dental work!" Or "WTB! Urgent, dress wrong size, need new one for upcoming event!"
-doesn't bug me, makes perfect sense. Says hey buyers/sellers, get on the ball now, I'm not dragging out this sale!

"DS! Need money quick for rent!" or "WTB! I just discovered this dress and suddenly need it right now, like every item I post a WTB for!"
-says I am too disorganized to plan ahead and budget regularly, and these bug me a little.

no, see, without the ultra rare snowdrop magic bunny dance parade print my frilly blood cell count is going to keep plummeting. the doctors are doing everything they can with a macaron puree in an IV drip but (cough) i just don't know how much longer i can go.
