28th-May-2014 01:15 pm - Mary Sue?
Does anyone remember the LJ communities like marysues and deleterius dedicated to snarking Mary Sues? A recent rule-breaking intro post on egl reads much like one of those Mary Sue descriptions, so we can snark it Mary Sue-style!

Hello, I am new to the community and thought it appropriate to introduce myself.

You thought wrong.

I am sorry but I shant be disclosing my actual name.

If you're going to insist upon using silly outdated words like "shan't," at least go all the way and use the apostrophe.

I am twenty-two years old and recently graduated from university. I first discovered Lolita when I was entering into grade nine but that was only the official beginning. I was dresses often as a doll when I was younger in tea party gowns with matching hats, my great-grandmother gave my sister and I elocution lessons each time we visited and I have always found a simple eloquence in the fashion of my baby dolls.

#i've been into lolita since the ice age
Also, congratulations on your completely normal female childhood.
Protip: elocution will get you nowhere if you don’t speak in turn.

I unfortunately do not own the closet of my dreams yet but have managed to obtain pieces from Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Angelic Pretty, Bodyline, and a few others. I also dable into the more punk Gothic aspect by buying from brands such as Too Fast Brand, Living Dead Souls

gurl no

and others along the same variety. I wish to work in the field of Autism Behavioral Science but unfortunately need to complete my post-graduate before I can become serious about that.

Okay, back up. I used to work with children with autism as part of my degree process and it’s pretty well-established that people with autism thrive in structured environments which are enforced with rules. Online forums and communities operate under similar principles. You would think that someone planning to go into a field that places such an emphasis on structure would attempt to deduce the structures put in place in the comm they just joined before throwing caution to the wind and posting useless things...

I have two Pullip dolls and I suppose I should do a brief about my appearance.

Why? Why do you suppose you should? Why should we, a community of thousands to which you have yet to contribute, care what a random member looks like? This isn’t even me trying to be an asshole right now; I’m genuinely curious.

I am 178cm tall, measurements are 104-71-104, I have curly auburn hair down past my breasts and brown eyes. If you would like to know anything else PM me.

I’d bet money that she expected several PMs.

Update: So instead of just taking down the post...
" Useless Lolita

Hello, I am very sorry for this pose. I do not have any lolitas near me so I figured I might be able to find friends here. I am really sorry for breaking the rules."

Psst...you're still breaking the rules.
10th-Jun-2013 01:08 pm - You again??
http://egl.livejournal.com/19258768.html#cutid1

Reminder that Hot Topic is not lolita.
Also, when will OP realize that she should post coords/ask for coord advice on daily_lolita instead of egl?
The second half of this year is when things start to really pop off and go crazy, so without further adieu...

you waited for it...Collapse )

annnnnnnnd that's all folks. Thanks for all the wonderful comments, I couldn't have done this without you guys. I hope everyone has a great new year and I hope next year brings lots more delicious wank!
petite_rosalie: Baaaaaw! Why can't I buy & sell my non-lolita tat in the sales comm?

Also posting in pale pink in a comm where the background colour is white doesn't make you look cute - it makes your post bloody hard to read. The weird way of writing doesn't help. Not sure if English is her second language or she's trying to do the flowery writing thing because she thinks lolitas are supposed to talk like they swallowed a book of poetry.
N00b posts screenshot of a lolita from a TV episode, a few other n00bs squee about how cute it is despite the fact that it fell out of the ita tree & not only hit every branch on the way down, but fell off a cliff under the tree & hit a large number of rocks too. One person jokingly counts off the ita elements & a few people chime in with agreement. OP is "surprised the level of negative reaction". Bonus lulz with pet_chan taking whiteknighting to a new level of delusion with "I don't know anything about this girl, I just saw this photo - and I love her style! She is really original and creative, her makeup is very unusal but I love it." She's a TV character, dearie. I'm pretty sure that's not 'her' style. Her incredibly original & creative style which has never been done ever.

Ah, the learning curve of the snowflake!

Small, but people may have missed it seeing as the post is a pretty 'meh' one, & there's the delicious prospect of flounce.

EDIT: Aaaand, bahleetion! Caps here. They were taken a few minutes before deletion though, so lemme know if you have more up-to-date ones.

EDIT 2: nekusagi has fresher caps. I'll leave mine up though because there are a few unexpanded threads down the bottom in hers that I had open in mine. Between us I think we have all of it...

EDIT 3: For those who asked about a badge, a friend of mine made me a sticker, & I scanned it in:

Also we have some summer-themed macros in the thread.

BMO
nyami_rose1 for this horribly arrogant and condescending rant about encountering an "ita" at Hot Topic. Some amazing excerpts:

I was at the mall wearing Lolita (What can I say? I love the stares I get at there)

She then proceeded to come up and fondle my headdress. She asked where I got it and I replied, "I got in from an online store called 'In The Starlight'." She gave me a confused look and said "What's that?"That was warning sign #1. if she didn't know what In The Starlight was, then she must really be a noob.

I didn't have the heart to tell her those clothes really weren't Lolita. I didn't want to cause a scene and get kicked out either. So I just left her in her Ita misery.

margokennedy put it best: you sound like a jerk

EDIT (though I doubt anyone will see this):,/b>
pyrothief is super late with this wonderfully elegant piece of prose:
"Subject: Oh hello there fucktards.
Oh wow. It sure takes a BIG person to pick on a teenage girl with OCD. After reading all the comments on here I gotta wonder, do you people feel so insecure about yourselves that you derive joy from tormenting others? I've never seen such a bigger collection of heartless losers in my life. Seriously. Picking on her mental problems? Picking on her writing? Finding every way you can to degrade her? Don't you have anything better to do with your meaningless lives? What the fuck does all of this stuff have to do with her post? Nothing. God, really now... How are you all any better? And besides that, what the hell is with all of you ganging up on her and repeating the same tired old crap? Can't you at least show a little originality? *Snort* Buncha mindless friggin' zombies. That's what ya'll are.

If she's a jerk, then your all bitches and assholes. Simple as that."
I guess you know how much of a jackass you sounded like, though, considering you deleted your comment.
28th-Jul-2009 03:48 pm - Selling head bows = Lolita, you guys!
Matori
GUYS LOOK HOT TOPIC IS TOTALLY GETTING RORITA WRONG BECAUSE THEY'RE SELLING A HIDEOUS PINK AND BLACK HEAD BOW.

Excuse me whilst I alert Forever 21, Target, Walmart, Claire's, Kmart, Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Limited Too, and every other store I've ever seen bow headbands sold in that they now have an obligation to sell proper Lolita goods lest they invoke the wrath of egl .

EDIT: According to the OP, she knows headbows are everywhere, she just associates them with Lolita more than anything else. Okay, then. So if you know not all headbows are Lolita, and didn't mean to hate, WHY DID YOU MAKE THE BLOODY POST?

28th-Mar-2009 01:36 pm - Awesome-O Lolita
mblaq

So I think we're all pretty clear on the whole Hot Topc=/= Lolita and that the rules of comm sales state such

but:  community.livejournal.com/egl_comm_sales/5794365.html   we must be wrong since these are soooo awesome lolita-chan clothes from hot topic.

lame, I know but I get annoyed with Hot Topic getting associated with lolita

EDIT: someone needs to get caps before everything deleted. I would but my comp isn't liking me :/

EDIT EDIT: Bahleeted
