GTFO my egl!
So you wanna throw your money away to a known scammer? ...OK.
15th-Mar-2012 09:04 am
judging you
So sugarbunnies379 asks at the main comm if anyone has brought from whatabeautifullife.com. Its obvious from the get-go that its another m*lanoo front, so everyone tells her shes better off buying directly from an-tai-na. But for some reason, she ignores everyone's advice, claiming shes done research, so ITS ALL GOOD. Cause you see Whatabeautifullife is DIFFERNT. They have a facebook page!!

ETA: Looks like shes been posting her inane questions to the main comm since September of 2010.....and yet she can't figure that pettipants =/= bloomers.

Seriously what the fuck. You can see the brand name IN THE PICTURES and it's not like antaina is some obscure brand. Frankly, if someone tells me I can get the EXACT SAME ITEM for cheaper, like hell am I going to pay more. If her account wasn't so old and obviously actually used, I'd think she was a sockpuppet but I guess she's just dumb, not devious.
15th-Mar-2012 02:36 pm (UTC)
I can't help but feel bad for the people trying to help her. She's not listening so let her learn the hard way. People like her do these things for attention
15th-Mar-2012 02:49 pm (UTC)
She should buy two pairs, since if one sucks maybe the other one will be what she wanted. Or maybe she should get 3 or 4 pairs because statistically she'll have an even better chance that at least one of them will be like the picture, right? :D Gambling with money is fun!
15th-Mar-2012 02:57 pm (UTC)
Finally! Geez, I don't know why she bothered to post if she wasn't open to hearing opinions and seems like she will just buy from Milan** anywho. At least I found out that you can buy direct from antaina
15th-Mar-2012 03:35 pm (UTC)
*sigh* At least she seems slightly convinced in the end? I really hope she doesn't buy from them; I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's a noob.

On that note, is it just me, or has the start of numerous spring breaks resulted in a fair amount of early comers for noob season already?
15th-Mar-2012 03:42 pm (UTC)
I feel it's one post a day thats smells like noob.
15th-Mar-2012 03:52 pm (UTC)
Stupid people are stupid all year round. We just have far fewer posts than we did this time last year to thin it out. I just did the math. Last year there were 534 posts in February, this year 355 so we've dropped nearly 200 posts. The comm shutting down last fall I think really drove a lot of posters to other places like tumblr.
15th-Mar-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
I didn't know about that! Why did they shut down? (I didn't have egl on my flist until fairly recently.)
15th-Mar-2012 06:18 pm (UTC)
someone posted a private mod discussion here and the mods decided it was the best idea ever to shut down the comm while they sorted everything out.
15th-Mar-2012 07:21 pm (UTC)
It wasn't just egl either it was egl-comm-sales too. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit and the comms were shut down for maybe about that long, so I think a lot of people just stopped coming and got used to it. That's kind of how I quit World of Warcraft, didn't play for like a month while I was moving then just never played again.
15th-Mar-2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
Holy shit. I totally missed that. I happened while I was still out of town last year, I guess.
15th-Mar-2012 06:18 pm (UTC)
wow i noticed there had been a drop in posts, but i didn't think it was that bad
16th-Mar-2012 01:42 am (UTC)
I wonder if the recent LJ shenanigans and large amounts of people leaving LJ entirely is also contributing to it, or if most of the lolita community stayed.
16th-Mar-2012 04:50 am (UTC)
I definitely think people are 'blogging' on Tumblr rather than posting coords or talking about prints...
16th-Mar-2012 06:02 am (UTC)
I can see the appeal of Tumblr, but it's a more visual medium as opposed to a text one. I personally prefer LJ because it's easier to discuss things.
16th-Mar-2012 06:06 am (UTC)
I like LJ better for Lolita stuff as well. On Tumblr you can gain fans but if you try actually reading comments on pictures it takes so much effort and you have to wade through someone's overpersonalized homepage. If you actually want to discuss things instead of collecting "likes" it doesn't really make sense....... but maybe I'm missing some part of the appeal? Its an easier posting medium I suppose.
16th-Mar-2012 07:21 pm (UTC)
I think so too! I really love tumblr, but I like it because of all the pictures, not because of discussion. I definitely like lj better for discussions because it looks a lot neater than reblogging the same picture over and over again to add to a discussion.
18th-Mar-2012 04:20 pm (UTC)
And facebook. The selling comm over there is really active.
15th-Mar-2012 04:48 pm (UTC)
I saw that and got annoyed by her very quickly. I didn't have anything to add beyond all the others were saying but i really wanted to hit her on the head.

Most of the time by the name you can tell who it is.

15th-Mar-2012 04:59 pm (UTC)
WTF is so hard about paying with paypal instead of a credit card? It's not like it's a hell of a lot more work.
15th-Mar-2012 05:24 pm (UTC)
Personally, I dislike using paypal because of some of the things that company has done.
15th-Mar-2012 05:41 pm (UTC)
Well, that's sucky.

But I doubt that she doesn't like paypal due to their business practices, but because it's not as easy as putting in her credit card number.

Personally, I'd be super-sketchy about giving my credit card number to milan**
15th-Mar-2012 05:56 pm (UTC)
Yeah, she doesn't seem to be that smart.
15th-Mar-2012 05:53 pm (UTC)
I had a feeling this would end up here.. And Oh My God! How can people keep asking about the most well-known M*lanoo fronts!? Is it that hard to look for reviews first!? and a store that sells ita probably wouldn't be trustworthy with lolita, logically..
16th-Mar-2012 04:51 am (UTC)
She can't do anything herself. In every post she asks for helping ordering, size, payment etc. I'm half convinced she has someone else at the computer helping her type.
15th-Mar-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
even more proof that you should be forced to take a common sense exam before being allowed access to the internet/a credit card
16th-Mar-2012 01:03 am (UTC)
Some people are just stupid and you can't convince them of their stupidity. If she wants to be scammed so be it. Not my money or my damn problem.
16th-Mar-2012 01:07 am (UTC)
I'm getting really tired of those posts.
16th-Mar-2012 01:09 am (UTC)
she posted something else that was like "are these bloomers and can I buy them?" but they were pettipants instead, so people were saying "well not bloomers, but I guess they'll work because nobody will see them" and she finally wrote something at the bottom that said "thanks I bought some anyway!" Uuuuughhhh, why do people post and ask if they should buy something, then don't really listen to what anyone says and then just go ahead and buy it anyway? I just don't understand that.
16th-Mar-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
Uuuuuhhhhh indeed. What is wrong with people? Its not hard to tell a mil**** sock, its not hard to look around for information, and it is most certainly not bloody hard to NOT put your credit card details into something that EVERYONE has told you is a scam.

I saw the Petti pants discussion and its resulting "Meh! ill just buy them anyway!" and wondered weather the op is a troll or just morbidly bad at reading comprehension.
16th-Mar-2012 07:41 pm (UTC)
my other guess is that maybe she's in a way trying to show off her purchases in a discreet way...? I'm thinking this because, even though most of the people tell her not to buy that item/from that store, she does it anyway and says it with pride, maybe to show off to the people who say things like, "well it might be okay" or anything better than that. People on the milan** discussion said things like "they will send you actual antainai shoes, but you can buy them cheaper elsewhere," which isn't an outright 'don't do this' so maybe she thinks that they're validating her choices and saying it's okay, even though that really isn't what is being said.

I dunno, that's just the first thing that I thought when I saw her posts (aside from "wow that's a big mistake" but I'm assuming that's the case for everyone.) So yeah. Maybe a troll, maybe horrible at reading comprehension, maybe disillusioned to think that people are supporting her bad purchases :P

(sorry if this doesn't make sense, my head hurts sooooo much right now...)
16th-Mar-2012 08:24 am (UTC)
If I remember correctly she was even told they wouldn't be very comfortable as bloomers..
16th-Mar-2012 10:16 am (UTC)
Yes. and for the most part that would kinda stand to reason with the scratchy lace that was on them, not to mention hot!

Though: i do own a pair of pettipants that i do occasionally wear as bloomers, they don't work as well as bloomers but they are cute and pretty comfortable if the weather is cold.

Also: replace the crappy lace and they are super cute pajama pants.
18th-Mar-2012 05:19 am (UTC)
To which she replied:
' I actually went ahead and bought a white pair. I don't mind discomfort as long as it's cute. I'll put up with anything. haha!'

This girl hurts my brain.
19th-Mar-2012 06:15 am (UTC)
Oh my goodness.. DONT.BUY.STUFF.YOU.KNOW.WILL.BE.UNCOMFORTABLE! Buy Normal Bloomers! It's not that difficult!
New girls can be really clueless about even common sense sometimes..
16th-Mar-2012 01:29 pm (UTC)
thats...something, Gonna edit this in
16th-Mar-2012 10:22 pm (UTC)
also, she never got around to writing up that "review"..
16th-Mar-2012 04:47 am (UTC)

16th-Mar-2012 11:45 pm (UTC)
she doesn't even care. let her throw money and if she got scam, it's her fault. i don't get why she want to post an question while didn't she didn't took the advice. like the bloomer post, it's ugly looking tho.
19th-Mar-2012 03:14 am (UTC)
Not gonna highlight any names, but I also think some people are being *too* helpful to the point that they are propagating such lazy behaviour among the noobs (not just with regards to this particular posts but in previous examples as well). Sharing info is great if you already have it, but outright offering to help the OP find the info is just spoiling the OP. Besides, if the OP won't even bother to take the effort to do her own research (and there are numerous great resources out there if only she'd bother to search), what's the likelihood that she's read the sellers' Terms and Conditions and item descriptions and knows what she's getting into? With or without help, she might still end up with an unsatisfactory transaction simply because she didn't bother to read up on her own.

It's really sad how people are so careless with their money these days!
